Joe Meek with The Blue Men - I Hear a New World
- one of the first experimental pop songs ( references : The Wire and Mark Brend)
- Signifies/represents the era where it started
- A producer that thoroughly understood his approach to Electronic Pop
- Began creating it with his own homemade sound effects - the origins of the sound effects used in the genre.
Themes: aliens, outer space, circles, fantasy, lowercase, purple
Track 2
SOPHIE - Faceshopping
- Representative of modern day/'Internet Age' Experimental Pop
- A producer that has worked with many of the most influential artists in the genre nowadays - PC Music, Charli XCX
- Distinct sound effects (part of PC Music's persona) that has influenced modern day Experimental Pop as it represents this era's accessibility to softwares and technology.
Their Packaging
Their packaging generally explores the concepts of materialism, distortion and childlike fun which are my main inspirations for my record sleeve. Sophie's typeface is most interesting to me as I'd like to possibly explore a typeface that represents the theme and the record sleeve could be typographic heavy which relates to the idea of Experimental Pop being conventional but unconventional at the same time.
