To explore other ideas, I focused on the plant theme as this is more commonly found as wall art in stores and also represents the link to the target audience as students usually buy houseplants as a sign of independence when moving out.
First I took images of my own houseplants in a more unconventional style, especially by focusing in on showing my avocado plant as it looks the most unconventional to usual houseplants. I then explored different compositions by including ceramic and toy figures to create an even more unconventional set up and also humorous one for the poster as this would be more compelling for the reader to want to hang up on their wall.
The issue I face with all these photos is that many, especially without the figures, are too similar to common wall art and posters and this combined with the plain background don't provide enough impact to be both interesting and also act as the front cover as when folded up, the cover will most likely just be the blank wall or table.
