Response to Crits

In response to the feedback from the crit with Dom and the silent crit, I made a list of the ideas provided and tested them out.

French Fold and Japanese Stab Stitch

I generally like this idea and thinks its quite successful in adding more impact to the book however, for this mock up, I glued the coloured stock to the scans which makes the book possibly too thick. I also don't see the need for this french fold as it was initially suggested as an idea for the paper to be continuous, but that's impractical and limiting to the amount of pages allowed. This also doesn't allow for the book to be read by multiple people.

French Fold and Spiral Bind

Experimented with a spiral bind so that multiple people can still read the same book however that meant that the other end of the french fold needed to be glued which makes it too messy for a book that is meant to be mass produced - not professional enough.

Die-cut

I got a suggestion to die-cut as a way of allowing pages to share information with other pages but die-cutting is a fabric process - I just mimicked this with paper however the outcome was really messy. I think the idea is really relevant to the book so I should explore other processes that are similar, or try make these cut outs much neater - different paper stock?

Perforated Edges

An idea for the gatefold is to have it fully perforated so that it could be shared by many however I still prefer the idea of the foldout poster as I want an element of the book to take up a space as the idea of taking and giving out parts is already going to be applied with a sticker page.

Foldout Poster/Gatefold

The foldout poster is to encase the book and also provide something that the reader can use to take up a space. The size represented here is A2.
