Final Logotype Development
The final logotype was adjusted from the original typeface family - the lowercase "a" no longer follows the original shape as this shape, which still follows the rules, creates more of a flow. The varying thickness within the stems resembles calligraphy pens as that natural movement that a handdrawn type conveys is the type of movement I wanted to achieve through this type - the varying thickness and the same "o" used for all the x-height glyphs guides the readers eye around each glyph representing the movement - migration.
The final logotype also has major adjustments to the lowercase "s" and the "i". The "s" initially was as large as glyphs reaching cap-height, which created too much of a clash. The tittle of the "i" also provided an unwanted clash, therefore I used a reduced scale of the lowercase "o" to create consistency.
Overall the consistency of strokes, the curves of the counters, the slightly altering x-heights all produce a sense of movement and personal elements that communicate the theme of understanding the truth of migration and celebrating it.
