With this development I was trying to mimic the pattern and colour-scheme from the Priez Type Zine as a starting point in trying to introduce modern with traditional however the pattern itself looked quite traditional as it was very bulky with all the layering, and the colour of the yarn was quite dull as it's not easy to dye yarn very vibrantly. The yarn that was supposed to be black is also quite grey therefore doesn't create much contrast - need to find a darker one.
The pattern approach looks nice but it unsuccessful in being an accessible base for a knitting/rag rug kit as it's quite hard to knit through and makes it very complicated to form knots and see the grid therefore won't be easy to use for everyone.
The font itself being wavy I also don't find as successful as I redid it twice and it still just looks very angular and was very difficult to do therefore would be difficult in a kit. Also its successful in being different from traditional typography in knit however I think it's overcomplicated and following the grid to create it is difficult - not for a kit.
- need darker black yarn
- more contrasting yarn needed
- need to simplify pattern
- type inspired by pixels? needs to translate as 'digital'/binary code
