Machine For Making a Typeface Idea
During the crit reflecting on my initial ideas and my focus on my preferred idea where I explore a way for people to physically create my first typeface then the second one from that which was just too complicated, the idea of sewing was raised. This is because the use of gaps in the lines of my typeface resembled a Julien Priez's work in the SWTY Publishing 'Type Life 3' zine.
I really like how Priez used digital softwares to create a design that resembles knitting as the cross between traditional and digital/modern is really interesting therefore when looking for a process to use since I didn't want to knit a whole sheet as it would be too time consuming and I wouldn't be too sure how to knit the letter into it, I found the process of using rag rug sheets as they have a grid that can help in creating a system for my machine.
