I decided to create stickers as an idea (that I want to carry on) for my record to be either an insert or used within the design of the sleeves in a few different ways. My initial idea was to include stickers as an insert which was inspired from the use of fruit stickers in my gift (connoting fresh - new, and produce). They would also represent the materialism and childish aspects I found relating to both the Joe Meeks song and Sophie/PC Music's approach to experimental pop. However after crits, different ideas of how to use them arose. In my group crit with Pat, the idea to create these fruit stickers along with any other imagery I could think of to relate to the genre could lead to my flag and my inner sleeve idea as it the actual leftover part of the adhesive sheet could be overlaid above my distorted threshold/bitmap patterns and printed that way - experimental yet keeping direct elements of the imagery. The actual stickers could be an insert, or on the sleeve (so when taken off they could reveal the pattern) and also could be used within the front cover by sticking them in layers of cling film wrapped over the sleeve. After a crit with Ben, the idea of taking more from the Faceshopping music video and the idea of materialism is to make stickers that also relate to shopping such as sale signs. Then the idea of leftover sheet could be carried on but instead have only one sticker missing which would be used to stick on an actual piece of produce such as fruit and have it screenprinted as a front cover, but on the inside the image of the fruit is rotten still with the sticker on (image not screenprinted).
I began by creating ideas for stickers directly linked to general sale signs such as 'BIG SALE' and 'CLEARANCE' however felt that these were too simplistic. I decided to start creating my own signs or interpretations of common signs such as putting 'Faceshopping' ontop of a Mastercard logo that I redrew, then created my own fruit stickers. I still felt overall that they were quite boring and my problem with these was how to approach them so that they can be more interesting?
