My approach:
Initially, I screenshotted the path that Adam and I walked in which we heard the conversations to provide a guide and a more direct relation to maps.
On illustrator, I mapped the line out as a basis for the text.
Applying the text to the path then using the excess to act as the path back as we walked a similar line just slightly offset.
Making it invert so that it's much more noticeable and the focal point becomes the white rather than having a lot of white space. The other way round may have been very effective in creating an overall simplistic look however as agreed with the group we will have our text in white Futura on a grey or black background.
Eleanor's notes on the type of language found in the overheard conversations - provides a more contextual and easier to read list to understand the text.
Nikki's single letter design - the first letter of the word and the last in differing directions.
Adam's word scale experiment - basing the scale of the words on the length of the sentence picked up to act as a way in representing how clear/loud the sentence was said as an alternative to recording.
Overall the final idea is interesting in displaying how different approaches to the same concept can merge together to act as a map allowing more chance of viewers being able to understand what is happening and also how each of the ideas work together.
I like my approach to type as the idea of writing words out as a journey represents the idea that this is text registered during that specific journey, and it's still quite relevant to actual maps. I think it may be too simplistic and could be developed by adding multiple different journeys with different conversations. I also like the idea of scale being used to represent loudness - we based this on how much of the conversation we picked up however this isn't very reliable and could be based off of a system.
