The colour scheme initially was only the darker green and purple. This is because when initially testing bitmapping as an imitation/replacement for risograph, I wanted a darker colour that would create enough contrast to show the bitmapping but also something that appealed to the creative, student audience. The forest green relates to nature whereas the purple is a more contemporary colour and both are quite trendy in urban culture therefore appealing to my target audience. Green and purple are also not often colours seen in mainstream publications put together, which may make it more eye-catching and appealing to students due to its unusualness. I then added a lighter/more vibrant green and purple for some variation then added the orange as green orange and purple make up a triad colour scheme (evenly spaced around the colour wheel) which make them complimentary to each other. The dark vibrant blue brings back some more contrast and is complimentary to the orange which allows for more visually interesting layering that shows the effect of the bitmaps layering ontop of each other which is important to emphasising the idea of layering visual information as a way of communicating the theme of shared living.
