Collecting content

Inspired by the lack of control method used when collecting phrases for my letterpress, I decided to continue this with more content within my book. Additionally, this allows more variation and images to experiment with for my book as the unpredictability of the content I get may push my experimentations further. It would also be a more honest representation of shared living as it can't just be based on my experience.

On instagram, I posted a story asking people to send me a picture of their shared living space which could be any room in the house, and a picture of an object from that space for potential stickers as well.

Images sent to me:

Issues with this Method
  • Image Quality - As I posted this on instagram, people responded by sending me this on instagram which drastically affects the quality as the dpi is lowered and the image is more pixelated. However I feel if I posted an email for this to be sent to that people would feel less inclined to send as it would be more effort.
  • Personal Objects - the images of the objects that I asked people to send was to be used for stickers however only 3 people sent images of objects and they're all very personal that I don't think it would translate well to stickers as the stickers need to be something that's relevant but would still make the reader want to keep these stickers and to give them out.
