Overall, I'm really pleased with the amount of research, development and thought I put into my response to the Migration brief. Initially, I thought the brief didn't provide much opportunity to produce a full publication and brand with merch, but by the end of it I've developed something that is personal to me and something that I can also continue to develop in my own time.
The collaborations were difficult - many did not stick to the schedule even though I consistently communicated with them the timetable. However I got a positive experience from each collaboration anyway, and got to experiment and think of design in ways I wouldn't have approached before. Although Antoine only produced one collage, it still set the tone for a majority of the image treatment throughout the book changing from scans to line art, which I believe communicates the idea of migration much stronger as it's a sense of continuous line throughout the book. Sophie's handmade paper may not have been used but it allowed me to consider the paperstock of the cover much more than I generally would. Millie provided the strongest collaboration, and it was a positive experience that makes me want to continue collaborating with people as it pushes me to develop outcomes and pushes me to develop more work.
However a major issue I faced throughout the project was time management as the timing of the holidays, employability week, and Professional Practice's group project made it very difficult to try to adjust to the downfalls and constantly adjusting timetables that come with collaborating, which then made it harder to stay engaged with the project. Although I am happy with the outcome, I feel as though with better timing in other courses and with holidays, I would've been able to achieve much more, especially in terms of blogging and possibly developing a second brief.
