Screenprint Stickers Idea

I wanted to explore how these stickers could be used as a main theme for my record sleeve rather than just an insert or part of the concept so I applied the threshold and bitmap effects onto them to create texture and to see how they would appear as a screenprint. I didn't have much hope for this as they are overly complicated images that aren't distinct even in their normal form however I wanted to experiment with the idea of having one main theme throughout the whole record as it connotes the repetition within experimental pop songs.

The threshold edits are more effective than the bitmap in giving a cleaner look to the image as there's no texture and this relates more to the materialistic theme as it relates more to fashion magazines and modern, clean lines. I generally don't think these are successful as they look quite comic like, especially the black and yellow one.
The purple and pink one is a bit more successful as it look's more playful and the mastercard sticker is really interesting as it gives the appearance of a really rounded font that was common in late 90's and y2k youth/alternative media and that relates alot to PC music.

These bitmapped versions are slightly more interesting as there's more to look at than with the threshold versions as the texture allows for the blank space in between to have some visual information. It's overall more playful and unconventional as there's a clash of sharp and bold lines with the mix of cross and diamond bitmaps that appear almost like fabric. The black and white reminded me too much of Ben-Day spots in comic books so I chose colours that were really unconventional for comic books and quite playful to move away from that connotation. The most successful out of these experimentations is the green and pink one as it's eye-catching and overall the most interesting. Its odd colour combination is also representative of the genre.
