Developing Text Poster in Response to Feedback

Instead of exploring 2D layer styles in an effort to create offsets and implied weight to the word as was suggested, I looked at ways of created a 3D effect as I wanted the overall design to be really uniform but impactful and still apply to the nature of plastic. I like this approach of photoshopping a glossy 3D effect as it can be translated as both plastic and liquid as was noted by peer responses which works together to suggest the idea of plastic and marine pollution.
This is most true to the original design as there's still a clear outline and having both the text and background black is successful in suggesting that transparency and fluidity. I prefer keeping the text centred as it suggests the idea of it floating within all of this black space.
Removing the outline allows the text and background to work together to suggest an ambiguous figure/ground relationship which emphasises the idea of the plastic text floating within water however it's not very legible and not as impactful as I wanted it to be as the issue is not a soft issue that should be hidden.
Adding a gradient allows for it to be more legible while still suggesting the idea of plastic being in the depths of the ocean.
Having it against a plain background is most effective to me as it's impactful while suggesting the transparency of bottles and the idea of it floating. The grey however is most successful as it suggests the idea of toxicity as it provides less juxtaposition and more of a sense of murkiness as it's a mid tone which doesn't lean towards the clean lines white and black provides.
