Pasted Up Text Poster and Peer Feedback

After pasting up my poster, I initially was happy with is as it was simple and allowed the word and typeface to work together to deliver the representation of plastic being toxic. However, the problems I thought of before were still possible issues: Do I need to make it more obviously about the ocean? Or is it clear to most people that plastic pollution relates to the ocean? Is this composition and plain fill impactful enough to translate to people from a distance?

Peer Feedback on overall design:

  • Look into textures such as textured backgrounds
  • Repeat the text or overlay it with offsets - implies weight and can bring this more to life
  • Large and in centre works however could explore more layouts

Do I need to make it more obviously about the ocean or is it clear to most people that plastic pollution relates to the ocean?

  • Most people will associate the issues with toxic and plastic with the ocean.
  • Could make it more obviously about the ocean by experimenting with textures more.
  • (Pat's feedback) It doesn't have to fully explain everything. Simple concepts work.
Moving Forward

I generally agree with feedback that the design could be pushed forward, especially to emphasise the idea of plastic. I could definitely use the typeface to explore more experimental ways of making this eye catching and more translatable.

A new issue that has arose from this is that most of this design's impact comes from the contrast from the black to the actual white wall its been pasted on which isn't relevant to real life contexts of Oripeau or Toofprints, where the posters need to be able to be placed anywhere therefore I need to focus more on the impact within the design rather than just sharp contrast.
